Dewey was born in Costa Rica and moved to the United States in 1987 to attend university. It was then where he began to take photographs with a keen regard for landscape, nature and the cultural world.

During his study abroad trip with Appalachian State to Cuba in 2012, he encountered days saturated with endless rain. This inspired ideas of reflection, through capturing the different presentations of perpetual rainfall.

Dewey invites viewers to “reflect on perceptions related to position, power, disorientation, different situations, what we are accustomed to and your everyday focus,” when visiting his Reflections: From Havana to DC.
