Building a Legacy: The BRAHM Permanent Collection
At BRAHM, we are committed to building a collection of art that enriches the lives of our community and the people of the High Country. Our permanent collection of more than 600 pieces showcases the works of celebrated artists such as Elliott Daingerfield, Maud Gatewood, Elizabeth Bradford, and Mark Hewitt as well as important American impressionists and post-impressionists.
The collection is a cornerstone of BRAHM’s mission, connecting people with art through preservation and education. Each piece added to our collection contributes to the cultural fabric of our region and offers lasting inspiration.
Contributing to the Collection
If you have a work of art that you believe could enhance our permanent collection, we welcome you to begin a conversation with us. Please share a bit of information about your work in the form below. Information about the process for review and selection is below the Gifts of Art Proposal Form.
A Promised Gift of Art
Thank you for your consideration. If you would like to discuss a Promised Gift of Art, the process begins by filling out the form below, and to share information about the work that you would like to contribute to BRAHM. We ask that you do not bring your work to the Museum—photos are a fine way to start the conversation. Information about the process for review and selection is below the Gifts of Art Proposal Form.
The Process of Review and Selection
When you share information about your artwork, it goes through a careful review process conducted by our dedicated staff. Each submission is evaluated based on how well it aligns with our collection goals. If your work fits our mission, staff will prepare a detailed review for further consideration by the Collections Committee of the BRAHM Board. The Committee meets in late spring and again in late summer. The committee considers all submissions, and we keep you updated along the way. Once a decision is reached by our Collections Committee, one of our dedicated staff members will reach out to you regarding the next steps in the process.
Appraisal Inquiries
We at BRAHM, like you, love the feeling of finding a painting by a favorite artist and wanting to learn more about the work. Even though you are excited about your art, please don’t bring the work into the Museum. BRAHM is not able to authenticate signatures, conduct appraisals, or place value on any works of art. If you are in need of these services then please follow one of the following links.
Appraisers Association of America
American Society of Appraisers
By having a professional appraiser look at your work, you are gaining the confidence of someone who has studied works of art and how to denote value to them. The appraiser will give you a written report about the art, information about the artist if known, and a fair market value as well.
As you learn more about your work, learn more about making a promised gift to BRAHM by filling out the above form.
