Docent’s Corner | Elizabeth Bradford

Pine Needles, Reflections—Pamlico Sound 2015 fills the Schaefer Gallery at BRAHM with a riot of color. This oversized, acrylic painting was created by Elizabeth Bradford, a NC native now living in Davidson and best known for her large-scale landscape paintings and her “startling and unusual sense of color.” Now part of our permanent collection, this canvas was one of many exhibited at BRAHM in her exciting 2016 Solo Exhibition entitled “Time +Terrain,” highlighted in a book available for purchase in our gift shop.

Come by the museum to view this work up close and absorb the beauty of the trees, water, and foliage in predominant shades of green, purple, and white with pops of vibrant orange, yellow, and teal. Reflections on the water’s surface suggest movement and energy while the rich color palette welcomes viewers to this remote natural setting.

This Docent’s Corner was brought to you by Sandra Perry.
