Farm, Forage, Feast: High Country Foodways

FarmForageFeast

Have you ever thought about where your food comes from? Or how honey is made? Or all the varieties of apples there are? Or what it really takes to raise pigs? Have you thought about all the stories and conversations that warm the soul as you sit around the dinner table and pass the plate?

Farm. Forage. Feast. examines the intersection of cultures, economies, education, and the environment relating to the production and consumption of food in the High Country of North Carolina through lenses of oral histories, photography, and local history.  For the purpose of this exhibition, the High Country is defined as Watauga, Ashe, and Avery counties, although our interview subjects live and work primarily in Watauga and Ashe counties
