BLOWING ROCK — Watauga County art educators spend most of their day cultivating and supporting their students’ artistic endeavors, teaching the next generation the skills and techniques used in a variety of mediums.

BRAHM’s new exhibit, “High Country Visions: Watauga K-12 Educators,” celebrates the creativity of nine art educators and shines a spotlight on the teachers who make Watauga schools’ art classes inspiring and engaging.

The exhibit highlights the work of Alyssia Ruggiero, Ashley Tate, Courtney McWhorter, Dacia Trethewey, Elle Lowry, Genal West, Kelly Blake, Lindsey Postlethwait and Lori Hill; and the finished products of the techniques they often teach their students.

“We’re teaching them all these skills and to be able to show them the finished product in a place as amazing as this is really cool,” Tate said.

The exhibit aims to attract residents that live around Blowing Rock who may not traditionally come to BRAHM during the busy season.

“We’re really offering some of the most robust programming this time of year for our local audience,” Executive Director Stephan Dragisic said.
