You are invited to a transformative experience.
Transformation is renewal, rebirth, metamorphosis, shape-shifting - a process of dramatic change. Transformation is central to both photography and to humanity. In what ways does the alchemy of the photographic process assist us in visualizing the transformation of human identities, the shifting dynamics of human relationships, the migrations of human communities, or the distortions and fluctuations in our notions of race and sexuality?
Join BRAHM and Appalachian State University professor Lorraine Affourtit, M.A./ Ph.D. for a conversation and writing workshop responding to the TRANSFORMATION exhibition’s themes, questions, challenges, and ruminations. We will have an opportunity to dialogue in community about the artworks and to discuss the salient themes of identity, race, sexuality, and place. Our conversation will prepare a foundation for the writing process and we will explore and reflect on writing prompts that will encourage personal and interpersonal reflection.
