About the Workshop

Students will practice gesture drawing (quick sketch) of the human figure working with willow charcoal (and soft dry pastels) working inside out. Poses will last from 1 minute to 5 minutes for these drawings. Longer poses will last 10 to 20 minutes developing the gesture drawing by studying the structure and planes of the form (earning out edges). Students will also study the human head drawing directly from life looking at oneself in a mirror with one dominant light source. By the last class students will have a greater understanding of rendering the human form and face from life.
