  • Blowing Rock Art & History Museum 159 Ginny Stevens Ln Blowing Rock United States (map)

Afternoon Art: Cherokee Bears

Every Tuesday 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Children ages 6 - 12 are invited to join us for creative art-making activities through a variety of media, from watercolor to clay. Each week features a famous artist, book, or theme to serve as inspiration and guidance for the art-making activity.

Wendy Red Star (b.1981, Billings, MT) lives and works in Portland, OR. An enrolled member of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Tribe, Red Star works across disciplines to explore the intersections of Native American ideologies and colonialist structures, both historically and in contemporary society. Drawing on pop culture, conceptual art strategies, and the Crow traditions within which she was raised, Red Star pushes the conversation surrounding Native American perspectives in new directions. Learn about the artist and create a portrait inspired by her work.

Cost: $8 General Admission per family. Members (with current Household Membership and above) are always free. Not yet a member? Join today!
