Focus Tour for BRAHM Members: American Portraiture and the Faces of the Alexander Collection
Docent Cathy Futral will narrate the development of a distinctly American style of portraiture beginning in the colonial period and extending through the flourishing of American Impressionism at the turn of the 20th Century as evidenced by the portraits and figure studies found throughout BRAHM's current exhibition The Alexander Collection. Futral's study of these impressionistic examples will illustrate the genre's lasting influence and shed further light on the robust collection built by founding members Patricia and Welborn Alexander.
Focus Tours are a new benefit of BRAHM membership! Developed and led by the museum's insightful and passionate docent team, these deep dives into the museum's current exhibitions will highlight relevant special topics and themes, revealing the complexity of the artworks on view and the histories behind them.
