About the Speaker
Kelly McCoy is fisheries biologist by training and a fly fishing guide by trade. Originally from Hokes Bluff, Alabama Kelly earned a Fisheries Science Degree from Mississippi State University where she also earned her nickname “River Girl.” After graduating from Mississippi State she went on to work in Florida as a marine biologist. Then she and her wife vacationed up to the New River two years in a row and made a plan to move up here. What started out as tying flies in the upstairs of the Todd Mercantile Bakery has grown into much more.
RiverGirl Fishing Company is a full-service fishing and rental shop located in the historic crossroads community of Todd, NC, where Elk Creek flows into the South Fork of the New River. This distinctive setting, both quaint and untamed, provides the ideal backdrop for the fun-loving and conservation-conscious Rivergirl Fishing Company. Their goal is to help customers enjoy the river by providing quality education, equipment, and guidance.
