About the event

Discover the fascinating stories of the talented, intrepid women artists who studied with Elliott Daingerfield in Blowing Rock and at the Philadelphia School of Design and how Daingerfield inspired them to become among the first professional women artists of their generation.

About the Speaker

Kadie Dean leads BRAHM’s Docent Program and was a former docent at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Recently she co-curated BRAHM’s exhibition of women painters from the Janet Wilson collection. Most of these women studied art with Elliott Daingerfield in Philadelphia and Blowing Rock and all were members of The Philadelphia Ten. On behalf of BRAHM, Kadie has researched the archives at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and Moore College of Art and Design to discover more about Daingerfield’s artistic influence on these remarkable women, who came to be known by Blowing Rock locals as “The Painting Ladies.”

PLEASE NOTE: Limited seating available. An 80% refund will be issued if the participant cancels three weeks prior to the event. For cancellations made less than three weeks prior to the event, BRAHM will issue a refund IF the museum is able to fill the vacated spot.
