Cone family member B.C. Cone -- the descendant of Moses and Cesar Cone -- will share family stories that aren’t documented on the walls of the exhibition.
B.C. will discuss the Cone family's immigration from Europe and the emergence of Cesar and Moses's entrepreneurial spirit. Other topics to be covered will be why Moses and Bertha chose the North Carolina mountains to live, the beginnings of the family's art collection, the development of Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, and other family stories of how The Cones worked and maneuvered through the lifetimes of Etta and Claribel.
About the Speaker
B.C. Cone is the great, great-nephew of Moses, Claribel, and Etta and the great-grandson of Cesar Cone.
Thursday Art and Culture (TAC) Talks bring collegiate level lectures to your museum. Featuring scholars from around the country, the lectures are selected to provide supplemental information on our current exhibits, or highlight the history and heritage of the mountains.
Beginning at 6 pm these events have an hour-long lecture with an audience question and answer session at the end. Unless otherwise posted, all TAC talks are free for members and $5 for non-members.
