The 2nd Annual Plein Air Festival took place Thursday, May 16th through Saturday, May 18th, 2019. It concluded with a Wet Paint Show & Sale on the evening of May 18th at BRAHM, where the public was invited to view the exhibit of the fresh new works and purchase items for their own collections.

Students in either workshop were automatically registered for the May 16-18 Blowing Rock Plein Air Festival. However, art from the workshop was NOT eligible for the Wet Paint Show and Sale.
INFORMATION & FESTIVAL DETAILS
Information for Buyers: Opportunities to provide patronage of this event vary from the $250 level up. Patrons receive entry into the artists gatherings Thursday and Friday evening, as well as the special Patron Preview on Saturday at 5:00 pm. The Patron Preview allows our sponsors to view the show before the general public, in order to best select artwork to be purchased for their home or business collection. All pieces must remain on display until 7:30 pm.
General public may view the Wet Paint Show & Sale on Saturday, May 18th between 6:00 and 7:30 pm. All previously unsold artwork will be available for purchase at that time. All pieces must remain on display until 7:30 pm. BRAHM handles all sales, and retains a 30% commission as a fundraiser for our non-profit community programs.

Thursday, May 16, 2019
5:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Artists Gathering and Lecture at BRAHM - Artist check in, blank painting surface backs stamped. Artists are then free to paint within Blowing Rock and surrounding areas. Stay for a lecture at 6:00 by local watercolor artist and instructor, Wes Waugh, titled “The Development of an Artist / A generalized model of the typical learning and growth patterns experienced by artists; including the common psychological, emotional, and technical work that leads to confidence and success.” Cash bar and snacks will be served.
Friday, May 17, 2019
9:00 am – 7:00 pm: Artists check-in BRAHM, painting surface back stamping. Artists are then free to paint within Blowing Rock and surrounding areas. Coffee and refreshments available from 9:00-10:00 am. Pre Ordered box lunches may be picked up at this time.
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Artist gathering for registered artists and patrons. Wear your nametag for admission! Wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Saturday, May 18, 2019
9:00 – 10:00 AM: Surface stamping and boxed lunch pickup. Coffee and refreshments available.
1:00 - 3:00PM: Art Drop off. No more than two paintings from each artist, created during the three day event are due to BRAHM, wired and ready to hang. Use of Plein Air style frames is encouraged to accommodate the wet paintings and show the Festival Stamp on the reverse of work. Artwork Information tags and an art inventory form must be filled out for each painting. No saw-tooth hangers please.
5:00 – 6:00PM: Patron Preview and Judging * Artists are encouraged to attend to speak with potential buyers.
6:00 - 7:30PM: Awards Ceremony, Public Reception, Wet Paint Show and Sale. All sales handled by BRAHM. Cash bar.
7:30: Artists will collect any unsold paintings at the conclusion of the evening’s reception. Sold artwork can be claimed by purchasers with receipt. Shipping is at the expense and responsibility of the purchaser or artist.
