Artist Inspiration: Georgia O’Keeffe

For this week’s weekly artist inspiration, we are looking at artist Georgia O’Keeffe.

She grew up in Wisconsin and then lived in New York and New Mexico.

What’s Unique About Her Style?

She is most famous for her large paintings of flowers and skulls. She enlarges (makes it big), crops (zooms in and goes off the paper), and abstracts (makes it look different than in real life).

Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven’t time, and to see takes time – like to have a friend takes time.

Here we see a painting of her two favorite subjects: "Ram’s Head, Blue Morning Glory (1938)"
