Let's create a cut-out collage like Matisse!

Art Creation Guidance: Follow along with Ms. Jennifer!


For Doodlebugs (ages 1-5):  

1) Watch Ms. Jennifer read "Oooh! Matisse”

Here is a collage made by Henri Matisse. Can you guess what it is?

(Hint:  the title is The Snail.)

2) Now it's time to create!

Gather: 

  • One sheet of white or colored paper

  • Colored Paper scraps (paint white scraps if you don't have colored paper)

  • School glue, a small container and small paintbrush

  • Scissors

  • Pencil

Watch the “Art Creation Guidance” video found above to try to cut or tear papers to make your own collage. 

You did it! Have your adult take a photo of you with your collage, and email it to Ms. Jennifer  Jennifer@BlowingRockMuseum.org
