Art Creation Guidance

Materials* you’ll need for this lesson include:

  • paper

  • black crayon

  • oil pastels

*Ms. Jennifer gives hints at the end of the video to paint tulips in watercolor, tempera, or with washable markers! Use whichever material you have available and feel is the best for you today.

Step-by-Step

  1. Start by drawing a smile near the bottom center of your paper with a black crayon or sharpie marker.

  2. Make two sides to the vase, about as long as your hand.

  3. Connect the sides to form the "lip" of the vase with another smile line.

  4. Now draw your tulip flowers - maybe 3-5 flower buds. Draw a "U" shape, then an upside-down "U" inside.

  5. Now connect the two shapes to make your tulip.

  6. Once you have drawn the tulips, draw thick stems for each, starting with the lowest tulips.

  7. Now draw leaves.

  8. Color your tulips with multiple colors of oil pastel, layering colors to blend.

  9. Draw some fruit and the line of the edge of the table. Now color those and the background!
