Art Lesson w/ Ms. Jennifer: Keith Haring
Let’s express ourselves by creating art in the style of the late American artist Keith Haring.
About the Artist
Keith was born on May 4, 1958. He grew up in Pennsylvania. He started to draw from a young age. After high school, Keith moved to New York City to go to an art school. He loved being in the big city. There were big museums with all kinds of art. There were many young artists working in his neighborhood.
In New York he found his style. He began making drawings on blank bulletin boards in the subways, and his popularity grew. Soon his art was internationally famous. He used his art to tell messages about love and helping others. Over the course of his career he called attention to causes by creating works to promote AIDS prevention, literacy, support UNICEF, work against apartheid in South Africa, and fight drug use.
