Docent’s Corner

For the first week of the Docent’s Corner, we’re exploring the Blue Ridge Conservancy (BRC) exhibition at BRAHM. Whether we live here or love to visit, we are entranced by the natural beauty and scenic wonders of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The majesty and diversity of elevations so beautiful to the eye also create amazing habitats for species unique to this region. In fact our region in northwest NC is one of the most biologically important and diverse in the United States. BRC has permanently protected over 22,000 acres of this land by partnering with landowners and local communities and focusing on A.C.R.E.S; land with A. Agriculture, C. Cultural, R. Recreational, E. Ecological and S. Scenic value. BRC has conserved family farms, protected areas with natural and cultural heritage, created more access for land and water recreation, safeguarded ecologically sensitive areas and preserved ancient scenic ridgelines. Come visit the exhibition and learn about some of the farms, parks, preserves and landscapes that have been saved forever.

This week’s Docent Corner was brought to you by Kadie Dean.
