About the Artist

Bridget Riley was born in England in 1931. After painting for some years in impressionist and pointillist styles, in 1960, she evolved her art into a style using primarily black and white to create optical illusions. Repetitive lines or dots create a three dimensional feeling, and sometimes the feel of movement happening in the art.
